Heart opener playlist

Today is the first day of summer, and we only have a couple of days left in Gemini season before we move into Cancer! Gemini is an air sign, which is connected to our lungs (anxiety) and heart (joy)!

This playlist I’m sharing below has definitely brought me joy over the last week, and I wanted to share it with you too. Each of the songs are uplifting and most use mantras that are directly connected to opening the heart center. And of course, you can still use it when we move into Cancer (water element).

Not feeling good enough? Try this…

Today I want to give you a taste of my secret sauce for overcoming moments of feeling like you’re not good enough. Obviously feeling unworthy is something that affects all of us, some more than others, but did ya know that it actually affects highly successful people as much if not more than the average Jane? Yup, it’s true.

Because for some of us (ahem, moi), we developed a pattern of striving for outward success to compensate for what we felt was lacking internally. Which on one hand is pretty cool – go us – we didn’t just sit on our butts and do nothing. On the other hand, it’s not so bueno because it leads to a constant cycle of joy sucking and exhaustion. If a key pillar of our worth is based on success, then we are fulfilled only when we’re winning, achieving, succeeding. Make sense?

So, here’s a few ways I’ve learned to deal with the “unworthies” (as I call them) when they come knocking…

Anti-Breast Cancer & Lymph Cleanse Exercise

Happy Happy National Women’s Health Week! In honor of this week, I wanted to share an exercise I’ve been doing recently to send some love to your heart chakra, breasts, lymphatic system and heart!

As several clients this year have found lumps on their breasts, I carefully paid attention during my 300-hour Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training when our teacher shared an exercise he called “Anti-Breast Cancer & Lymph Cleanse.”

Little did I know that a week later my doctor would find a lump on my breast…

Happiness is an Accomplishment

And so is finishing your meditation…

At a workshop over the weekend I heard that Yogi Bhajan quote: happiness is an accomplishment. And I found myself thinking, so is meditation! Because if you meditate, I know you’ve been there. And by there I mean being completely in the flow and feeling great in some meditations. In others, seconds feel like minutes, and you want to scream EFFFFFFF at the top of your lungs. (Or is that just me?) So how do you stay engaged in your mediation?

How Fast Is Your Emotional Metabolism?

You’ve heard about your physical metabolism, but do you know you have an emotional one too? It’s your ability to process emotions in a way that supports your emotional wellbeing, much like your metabolism supports your physical wellbeing.

Emotions and food have similar effects on us. Positive emotions nurture and support us, like healthy foods. Highly processed or toxic foods make us sick, like negative thoughts and emotions. The stomach area (solar plexus chakra), where we process food, is also where we process self-love. It is our center of self-worth, self-love, self-confidence, and personal power. How we feed or deprive ourselves through our emotions creates a fast or slow emotional metabolism.

3 Life-Changing Questions to Ask Yourself

Lately I’ve been so inspired by the messages I’m receiving from people all over the country. People who are taking life by the horns, which, as I’m sure you know, requires some big-time stepping outside of your comfort zone. It takes courage, guts and giant leaps of faith. So to my friends out there who are in the middle of taking a leap, this blog is for you. 😉 To those who have a little seed planted deep in their mind about a leap they’d like to make, I hope this blog serves as a little fertilizer.

To clarify, a leap outside your comfort zone could be anything…starting a business, starting or ending a relationship, starting a yoga practice, leading a meditation event, changing a mental thought pattern, and much more. Our comfort zones are all different. Regardless of the specific details, here’s what I’ve found to be true when you get ready to take a leap.

What’s Your Energy Telling You?

Last week, as I lounged under the shade of a palm tree, taking in the image of the sun sparkling like millions of diamonds against the beautiful ocean, I plugged away at some work. Writing about how our root chakra looks muddy and sluggish when unbalanced, I pushed down the feeling I was describing my own root chakra in that very moment. How could that be? I’m in Maui! Nah…can’t be.

Chakras and Food – What does energy have to do with our weight?

Well, plenty. Anytime something is off in our external world, it’s a direct result of something being off internally. How does that work? When we block our feelings, we create blocks in our energy body that manifest as problems in our lives. Then, we medicate the internal issue with an external solution, such as food. We begin overeating, binging, controlling, restricting or obsessing.

Each of us has seven energy centers, called chakras, which represent specific areas of our life. If you’re struggling with weight or food issues, you might be able to identify below which chakra is imbalanced and begin to think about how you can balance it.

What is Reiki?

Recently, especially when traveling, I have been asked the question, ‘what is Reiki?’ There seems to be a growing curiosity, encouraged, I’m sure, by public figures such as Dr. Oz (promoting its benefits) and Christina Aguilera (crediting her weight loss to Reiki).
