When is the last time you blamed someone else instead of taking a look inside?

I vividly remember doing that when I was in the early stages of healing my thyroid/autoimmune condition. Looking at my doctor like he was the devil because I was not further along in my healing process. Fortunately, thanks to his awesome ways, he called me out and said he couldn’t do it alone…. I need to contribute to my own healing process.

Um… what??? You mean criticizing my body for being inflamed and being angry at it for being sick wasn’t helping???

How I Quit Sugar

Last week I started sharing my journey of quitting sugar, and as promised here is part two. Without the information I’m sharing today, I don’t think I would have been able to survive the detox period or sustained the change. As I mentioned last week, quitting sugar gets effortless over time, but at first it’s pretty tough and requires some serious “muscles.” ☺

You can use this information to quit any kind of food. I’m talking about sugar because for me it was by far the hardest food to quit. I do believe what the experts say – that sugar is addictive. Per my Doctor’s recommendation I also quit grains and dairy while healing my Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism, and neither of them were as physically or emotionally challenging as sugar was.

Celebrating 6 Months off Sugar

This month I’m celebrating six months off of sugar, and after getting a lot of questions about it, I’m ready to share my journey with you! I’ve split this into two blogs (one today and one you’ll get next Tuesday). Should you want to learn even more than what I cover in the two blogs, you’ll see a workshop invite below.

Before I share more, let me say that quitting sugar isn’t for everyone, and although I do believe cutting back on sugar would benefit everyone, I am definitely not a sugar shamer. It’s a personal decision between you and your body that requires a massive level of commitment (especially at first).

THE question that affects your waistline

Over the last two weeks I was tempted to eat a massive amount of food via mindless grazing and snacking. I was focused on launching my online program, which is kind of like finals week in college, when you temporarily live and breathe your work while in your pajamas. But, not only did I not eat the massive amount of food, I actually lost weight.

I noticed I kept thinking about food. When I felt blocked with the material I was working on, I thought about food. When I felt stressed about a technical challenge, I thought about food. When I felt relieved from an insight, I thought about food. Food was the automatic response.

Lifestyle Changes for a Healthy Gut & Happy Life

Our gut plays a key role in our health, as a major part of our immune system is located around our gut. Those who have adrenal fatigue, thyroid or autoimmune issues have probably learned this the hard way!

You’re Not In Charge of Me, MTHFR

Were you thinking what I was thinking when I first heard MTHFR? Well, in this case MTHFR means Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase, not the swear word that I occasionally love using. But I’ll admit…if I have to have a gene mutation, having one that is nicknamed after one of my favorite profanities is pretty amazing.

I learned about this lovely acronym about a year into my journey of healing adrenal fatigue and Hashitmoto’s hypothyroiditis (autoimmune). Markers in my blood panel showed that I inherited two MTHFR mutations that were potentially contributing to the conditions within my body.

I knew my lifestyle and choices had contributed to my health issues, and I also knew I had the power to change those. Learning about MTHFR left me feeling disempowered. What the EFF was I supposed to do about genetic mutations?

Seven Ways You’re Wasting Energy and Creating Exhaustion

When I started exploring the root cause my fatigue, I explored the relationship between our body and our energy centers, or chakras, specifically the solar plexus chakra. The solar plexus is associated with personal power, ego, self-worth, confidence, accomplishment, transformation, and our ability to visualize success. Physically it’s connected to the liver, gallbladder, spleen, stomach, small intestine, adrenals, mid-spine area, and pancreas.

When this area has a physical imbalance, we may experience chronic fatigue, eating disorders and more. Emotionally we may experience powerlessness, greed, doubt, anger, indecision, lack of motivation or willpower, need to control, dishonoring self, low-self esteem and fear.

Why am I so tired all the time? Life with Adrenal Fatigue

Tired in the morning (and all day really) and wired in the evening. By tired I mean absolutely exhausted. The kind of tired that you feel behind your eyes and makes you want to crawl in a cave and hide from the world so no one will ask anything from you. That’s how I’d describe what I later realized was adrenal fatigue.
