THE question that affects your waistline

Over the last two weeks I was tempted to eat a massive amount of food via mindless grazing and snacking. I was focused on launching my online program, which is kind of like finals week in college, when you temporarily live and breathe your work while in your pajamas. But, not only did I not eat the massive amount of food, I actually lost weight.

I noticed I kept thinking about food. When I felt blocked with the material I was working on, I thought about food. When I felt stressed about a technical challenge, I thought about food. When I felt relieved from an insight, I thought about food. Food was the automatic response.

It’s Not About Willpower…

Eliminating grain and dairy will help you heal your Hashimoto’s, but willpower isn’t going to keep you from noshing on your favorite treats. Today when people see me saying no to cheese or other former delights, I often hear, “you have such willpower.” But, it has nothing to do with willpower.

Resisting cheese boils down to the very same thing that causes someone else to eat it, despite knowing it’s contributing to an inner health storm (for those of you with Hashimoto’s or similar conditions). I witnessed this a couple of weeks ago. A colleague with an autoimmune condition was told to cut grain and dairy out of her diet to help eliminate pain. As I sat across from her at dinner, she explained she “tries” to eliminate them as she ordered a meal with grain and dairy. In the next sentence she said she’s going to see yet another specialist to try to help eliminate the pain she’s experiencing.

Seven Ways You’re Wasting Energy and Creating Exhaustion

When I started exploring the root cause my fatigue, I explored the relationship between our body and our energy centers, or chakras, specifically the solar plexus chakra. The solar plexus is associated with personal power, ego, self-worth, confidence, accomplishment, transformation, and our ability to visualize success. Physically it’s connected to the liver, gallbladder, spleen, stomach, small intestine, adrenals, mid-spine area, and pancreas.

When this area has a physical imbalance, we may experience chronic fatigue, eating disorders and more. Emotionally we may experience powerlessness, greed, doubt, anger, indecision, lack of motivation or willpower, need to control, dishonoring self, low-self esteem and fear.

Tapping to Release Procrastination

Recently I shared that for years I procrastinated creating my “About Me” page on my web site. Finally, I tapped through the resistance, and several hours later the page went live.

Tapping to Release Racing Thoughts

Recently I’ve heard the term “crazy train” used by several people who feel like their racing thoughts have taken over their minds…aka they’re riding the crazy train! Tapping 101


Some tapping basics that might help you as you get started in your tapping….

1. You can use two to three fingers as you tap on each of the eight points.

2. The eight points are: eyebrow, side of eye, under eye, under nose, under chin, collar bone, under arm, top of head (crown).

3. You can tap on either side of your body – it doesn’t matter – whatever is comfortable. Or, you can do both sides at once if you choose to!

4. Before you get started you’d typically rate on a scale of 1-10 how great the feeling is that you’d like to release. After you’d re-rate to see what shift you made, or if you need to do more tapping.

5. The more specific you are, the more the tapping works. If you’re following a tapping video, you might want to press pause and tap through each of the points on any specific statements that are coming up for you. Then you can resume the video.

6. Be aware of your tapping – how hard or fast is it? What might that mean? Does it relax as you tap if it was fast at first?
